Unter Tantal-Isotope werden alle Atomkerne des chemischen Elements Tantal zusammengefasst; diese bestehen allesamt aus einem Atomkern mit 73 Protonen und im ungeladenen Zustand aus 73 Elektronen. Der Unterschied zwischen den einzelnen Tantal-Isotopen beruht auf der Anzahl der Neutronen im Kern.
Natürlich auftretende Tantal-Isotope
In der Natur tritt das chemische Element Tantal als Gemisch zweier Isotope auf, dem stabilen Tantal-181 und - aussergewöhnlich - dem vermutlich instabilen Tantal-180m. 180mTa ist ein so genanntes metastabiles Kernisomer, das sich im Vergleich zum 180Ta (Grundzustand) in einem energiereicheren, angeregten Zustand befindet und eine bei weitem größere Halbwertszeit aufweist. Tantal-180m ist das einzige natürliche Isotop mit diesen Eigenschaften.
